Trayer Submersible Vacuum Switch with Universal Fusewell Assemblies consist of a switch tank containing one or more vacuum switches in liquid insulation, combined with Universal Fusewells. They provide reliable, maintenance free, current-limiting protection for underground electrical distribution systems.

Field proven since 1977, Universal Fusewells are the reliable workhorse of the industry. Fuse replacement is a safe, quick and easy in-the-field operation. The loadbreak elbow must be removed before the cap can be rotated to remove the fuse, assuring the fuse is not removed under load. This guarantees closing back into the circuit after fuse replacement and is accomplished safely and smoothly with the switch or fault-close rated elbow, never the fuse. The Submersible Universal Fusewell Assemblies have an optional fuse wipe system that uses a squeegee action to wipe most of the liquid insulation off the fuse keeping the oil in the tank as you remove the fuse. The hermetically sealed #304 series stainless steel construction provides reliable, current-limiting protection for operating personnel and distribution systems, with zero maintenance in hostile environments, including a life of total submersion.

Trayer liquid-insulated vacuum switches are rated for ten thousand 600 Amp transient-free switching operations with no degradation of the insulation. All switches are SCADA ready.
