Trayer Cable Operators
Trayer provides a fully submersible design and a more economical weatherproof design. The Trayer cable operator is available in any length required. The cable operator handle is available with a 90° throw or a 180° throw. Padlock provisions are standard and key interlocks are optional Constructed with #304 stainless steel the submersible cable operators are designed for total submersion.
Provisions for Rope Operators/ 360° Pull-Ring
Trayer can provide optional provisions for rope operation. The most popular design requires a bar to be welded to the surface of the tank and elevated to allow a rope to pass between the bar and the surface of the tank. This allows the operator to pass a rope under the bar and then attach it to the open handle. The rope can now be pulled to close the switch. (This requires that the handle move down to the surface of the tank.)
To open the switch, a rope is attached directly to the handle in the closed position and then the rope is pulled to open the switch. If this system is to work, the switch should be located almost in line with the operator.
If the switch can not be located in a straight line with the location of the operator, our 360° pull ring system should be used. This will allow the operator to be anywhere off to the side of the switch and still operate it using a lanyard. The 360° system has a ring mounted above the pivot of the switch handle so it can be pulled open from any location.
A simple single lanyard carried in the line truck can eliminate the need for multiple costly submersible cable operators while being more reliable. This lanyard design eliminates the need for the lineman to be down in the vault while opening or closing one of our submersible vacuum switches.
Trayer Submersible MotoPak Operator
Trayer has been supplying submersible operators for over 25 years. They are field proven and truly reliable. The available voltages are 24 VDC, 48 VDC, 125 VDC, 120 VAC or 240 VAC. The motor and all components are hermetically sealed, safe and dry within a #304 series stainless steel, all welded enclosure. All wires enter the enclosure through a submersible wire penetration.
These submersible operators have been used successfully on our earliest submersible remote operated switches and continue to be used successfully today. They are designed to be quickly disconnected from the switch handle for testing the operator without interrupting service. Hot-dip galvanized stands, supplied by us, may be required. Operation time is from one and a half seconds to four seconds.
These totally sealed units are also used on pole mounted switchgear.
